Carolina
has 52 front teeth plus another 4 rows of teeth lined up behind.
Her bite could probably have thrashed into two a large dolphin.
Nevertheless the remains in her stomach indicate that her prey
were not always bitten into pieces, the 'verdesca' and the turtle
were swallowed whole.
To
rubbish the record, many experts have got down to work.
Many claim that if the shark in the photo had been 7 metres,
long the man beside her must have been at least 2 metres. “The
same people who today contest the sizes, had for years supported
the measurements. They had also written about it. They took
to task the only photograph saying it was deceptive in visual
terms” replies Jon Abela.
There
could exist according to the researchers (the Dr. Randall of
the University of Honolulu) a relationship between the dimension
of a shark's teeth and that of its length.
“This applies to white sharks up until a certain size” says
Jon Abela. “Above 15 feet the size becomes allometric and
therefore the calculation between the teeth and the total length
no longer applies. This is my reasoning and is supported also
by Mollet and Klimley in their book on the white shark”
