Journal
of the thirtyfifth day on board
6th June, 1999
Our
skipper is a real Sardinian type.
He who
sleeps doesn't take any fish. he says, but it's not really
like that.
I
am Stefano Macis. I'm 32 years old and I've always loved nature,
but the sea is my life and working for him is no effort at all.
It is beautiful to be on board with those who are looking for,
filming and studying its wildlife. These people, like me, love
and respect the sea and consider it a treasure to experience
and to use, but not to abuse as if it was their own.
It was 11
in the morning of the 1st May. I was sleeping when the telephone
rang
Do you want
to come aboard the Alicudi to take part in Mission Sharks: an
expedition which is looking for sharks?
I didn't
think twice and I said yes. Now I find myself part of an adventure
and great experience. I'm meeting people and animals that I
won't forget. You can be jealous of me if you wish. I would
also be jealous of you if you'd done the same.
