Journal
of the twentyfourth day on board

The
fishing of swordfish should be forbidden, but you can't deny
it has a great fascination. The lookout men find the fish and
those on the deck harpoon it. A bloody battle delivering varied
results: rarely 4 fish, often none.
Such boats that operate around Scilla you can count on the fingers
of one hand, but the part of the sea where they "hunt"
is small and overworked.
Paolo Barone is our point of reference. He is the owner of the
Scilla diving centre and to a certain extent the discoverer
of the 'underwater' Straits of Messina. It is he who helped
us choose the right bank, before sharing with us a beautiful
plate of 'spaghetti all'aglio e olio'.
