Journal of the thirteenth day on board

15th May, 1999

10:00 a.m.
Domenico Faenza an expert in communications who Telecom "Radio Sea Services" has put at our disposal, is assembling the small high tech suitcase which will be able to send the images to land.

01:24 p.m.
Taranto welcomes us with a family of 'grampi' swimming round the Alicudi. Piero and Diego drive the dinghy among the fishes and Alberto swims with them for a while.
A 'gramp' can weigh as much as 8 people and it can be more than 4 metres long. Its body is stumpier than a dolphin's, yet it is still agile and its body is covered with scratches probably caused by other 'grampi'. Because of its melon-shaped head it looks like a black whale, its very light colour remind us of a beluga living in our seas.

08.10 p.m.
Sunset in the harbour in the middle of a mussels breeding ground.
